First Day of School 2009

{August 31, 2009}

I can't believe it is already school time again! This summer flew by. Not that we didn't enjoy the summer, but I secretly don't care! The faster the summer went by the faster I get to meet this little guy of mine.

Marcus is now in 1st Grade. He was so excited to be able to go all day and he has loved every minute of it. His teacher just had a baby, so she was there the first day and then he has had a substitute since and he will until the first of October. We have heard wonderful things about her, so we look forward to see all the many things he will learn this year. He has enjoyed eating at school. He ate school lunch 3 days and I made him lunch 2 days. I think it turned out pretty good. We are already looking at the menu for next weeks to see what days I will pack him a lunch. We are loving that he loves school!

Alec is now in Kindergarten. He has a different teacher then what Marcus did last year, so we are both learning how this new teacher works. She seems so sweet and fabulous. I was a little nervous that he would struggle going this first week, but he loves it! The first day when Carson and I took him to school he hung up his backpack walked right in and didn't even look back once.

It is such a wonderful feeling knowing that they are both enjoying school. And I really enjoy knowing that both boys fear getting in trouble by authority, so I honestly don't worry about them getting in trouble at school. They are such good boys. It is so fun to see them grow during this time of their lives. And at the same time it is so sad to me that from here on out for the rest of Marcus' life I have to share his time with school. I will only get to see him at nights, weekends, and summers. That is a hard concept for me to grasp, but in the same breath it makes me thrilled that I get to experience watching him grow.

As for Olivia, she doesn't seemed phased by her boys being gone. She has enjoyed running around with me and talking as much as she possibly can! I am excited to get a routine down and get things ready for our little guy. I am a little nervous for when he comes to see how much of a helper Olivia will be and see what little mother she will become!

And as for the mom, I am enjoying being able to get lots done. All though this week was a lot of running around and trying to help get things taking care of for the PTA, I think we will enjoy our time while the boys are gone. I am also enjoying being involved with the PTA, I like doing things that I know my kids will benefit from. I am excited to see how this year goes with the PTA. I am little nervous to know in 2 years it is my turn to be PTA President, so I am anxious to have Stacie teach me all she can!Marcus and Alec we are so proud of you guys! We look forward to watching you grow and learn new things.

{My favorite conversation I heard go on between the boys after laying out their clothes the night before school.
Marcus: "Hey Alec, I get to wear a football shirt to school!"
Alec: "Well I get to wear a Church shirt!"}
What Handsome Boys I Have!
