{December11}
So I was supposed to go in on Monday the 14th to have the baby, but after having some pains (and more convenient) we changed the day to the 11th. The problem with doing that is I don't know what time we needed to be there until about 30 minutes before we needed to leave our house. Once we dropped off Olivia to my parents and we were on our way a mixture of emotions came over me (and I am sure Carson!). I realized I was almost going to become a mother to child #4, I was going to have my stomach cut open, and I was going to meet, hold, and kiss my new little guy. I become really nervous about have 4 kids. I said to Carson, "what are we doing, we are going to have child #4!" And he said, "I knew this 9 months ago!" I guess it was a little too late for that fear. We got over to Logan with 2 degrees being the temperature that day, so after freezing walking into the hospital we got all checked in and ready for our big day!
After being hooked up to the IV's for a couple of hours, getting all the blood work done, and answering all the questions it was time to walk the dreaded hall way to the OR. At that time all those feelings I was feeling on the way over to the hospital were growing into somewhat of fear and a little bit of an anxiety attack! We got into the cold OR room were the started to do my Spinal, which I was very concerned about it because in past times they have to do it a couple of times before they get it into the right spot and it is very painful. This time I was so impressed that I barely felt anything! It was wonderful. Immediately I can't feel anything from my ribs down, it is a very strange feeling actually. Then my doctor came in and the doctor helping her and about 10 minutes later they were pulling him out! This time things were a little bit different this time around for me. When they were trying to get him out I really felt a lot of pressure on my chest. After a couple of minutes of feeling them try to push him out I heard the Dr. say they needed a vacuum to get him out. After they got him out there was no noise from him (which none of my boys cried) so they took him right over to the baby nurse and started doing there thing. After they took him out the heaviness continued on my chest, which they do tell you could happen it just never has happened to me. Carson was over with the baby and then he would come and check on me. At one point he came over to ask how I was doing and I was not doing well. I was getting dizzy, sick to my stomach, and felt such a heaviness on my chest. He then went back over to Payton and I looked at the anesthesiologist and told him I am going to throw up. He was very nice and took care of me while I was not doing well and then he had to give me so blood pressure medicine to help me out.
What was nice about this time is they did a lot of things to the baby there in the OR so that once I went to recovery he could come with me. Right away I was able to try and nurse him which went wonderful. It was crazy at how he kept turning his head with his mouth open as soon as he was born, so when I first went to feed him he was a pro! Once they took me up to my room, that is when Carson and the baby went to the nursery to bathe him. One thing I really liked about this time around was they let my mom come to recovery with us and then when we were done and Carson and the baby went to the nursery she was able to come and sit with me. It made time go by a little bit faster.
Since they wouldn't let me kids come into the hospital, when my dad and Molly came to see Payton, Carson and my mom went and showed the kids pictures of the baby. It worked for their needs of seeing their new baby brother!
Our stay in the hospital went well. Carson and I felt a huge relief having him be healthy. It was a very peaceful feeling sitting in the hospital just the 3 of us! I always enjoy my time that I get to spend with Carson while I'm in the hospital. There is no worldly distractions, it is just the two of us getting to know our newest addition. On Friday night after all of our visitors left we were sitting on our bed when we took off Payton's socks for the first time, we were shocked to see his long toes. Carson even thought it was pretty great on Sunday to be able to sit there with his new little guy and watch football! Also on Sunday Carson and I were able to get the "Couples" meal that the hospital does for the new parents. We were able to choose our meal and then they brought it with a small bottle of sparkling apple cider. We decided it would be our anniversary meal, romantic I know!

He is so cute. Love those chubby cheeks.
You're right about it being kind of nice not having anyone around at the hospital. I didn't even turn on the tv for a couple of days.
I'm guessing it also had something to do with the morphine.
Congrats!! What a cute little guy! Glad everything went okay! Wow, 4 little ones! Good luck little mommy!!
Congrats!!! What a sweet little guy!
