Weekend of Fun....

{August 14-15}

After a busy week doing wedding flowers and a day to recover me and the kids headed down South for a fun little getaway! We first went up to Park City to go school shopping. The kids weren't too sure about it, but I total redeemed myself by buying them each a pair of sunglasses. Alec said, "you are the best mom because I don't think any other mom bought their kids sunglasses!" Whatever works, whatever works!

We then went to Salt Lake and stayed at our favorite hotel in Sandy. Earlier on in the day when we were almost to Park City Marcus noticed that I needed gas, but I for sure thought I could make it. Well I was wrong! After checking into the hotel, unloading all of our things, and trying to move the van from the front of the hotel and Irealized that had ran out of gas! Yes that is right, I ran out of gas while I was by myself with four kids in Salt Lake City! I stayed calm and we took a walk a few blocks to be turned down at one gas station because they didn't have a gas tank for us to take, so we walked a few more blocks, we got a little gas, walked back to put it into the van, and then we hurried and drove the van back to the gas station and filled the van up. Not my brightest mom moment, but hey it hadn't happened for a few years, so I think I am okay!

After the gas problem we went swimming for a few hours and then we went up to our room and watched TV until the kids fell asleep (which didn't take long with our busy day that we had). After getting up, eating breakfast at the hotel, swimming for a few more hours, we got all ready and headed to the Zoo.

The kids were so excited to go to the Zoo. Carson and I are on the every other year plan with the zoo. By skipping it that year the kids have forgotten about it and so it seems new to them and we forgot that we went on the hottest day of the year, so it is a win win for everyone! Once again we went on a very hot day, but the kids still loved it. The night before we saw that the baby elephant was celebrating her first birthday, so all morning before we went to the zoo Olivia kept saying, are we going to the birthday party yet!

We can't forget our traditional lion picture!

Alec with the monkeys. We thought this was a good picture, since Alec is party Monkey!

The kids always love this Elephant and the water or whatever comes out of it!

Baby Zuri was so cute! I know it sounds crazy and Marcus is sick of hearing me talk about this, but it was so neat watching Baby Zuri nurse from her mother!

Alec on the Rhino, it was one of his favorite animals that he saw that day.

Olivia liked the monkeys the most!

Payter on the baby elephant. Me and Payter felt a serious bond with the elephants (okay I had a serious bond with the elephants!).
Don't ask about where Marcus was when we were on the Merry Go Round. He was upset because he didn't get the one he wanted. He was cooling off so we didn't have a big fight at the zoo!

The kids really enjoyed the train ride as well. I love the simple things that kids enjoy!

We had a wonderful weekend, but we missed our Big Daddy tons! We can't wait to go back with him in a couple of years. And we really can't wait to go sleep at the hotel with him and go swimming!
