Remembering....

As the boys were outside this morning waving goodbye to their dad as he left for work Marcus noticed flags in everyones yard and he came into the house and asked if it was Labor Day again (I guess the last time flags were out was then), so I was watching the news and right then they were also talking about 9/11. As a quick flash back came back to me seven years ago of what this day had become I tried to explain to the boys what 9/11 meant. I remember getting ready for work back in 2001 walking by the TV right after the first plane hit and then continued to stand there in shock with what I was watching. I honestly feel like I cried for days, I cried because I couldn't believe that people could actually be that mean, I cried for all the families that lost their loved ones, and I cried realizing how when you tell a loved one goodbye in the morning thinking you will see them again in a few hours I took for granite. I also remember thinking to myself, will I forget this day, will I forget what I was doing the moment when I heard. Growing up my mom would always tell me what she was doing when President Kennedy was assassinate and I could tell that was a huge moment in her life and a huge moment in history to be able to remember your feelings and emotions. So now seven years later I haven't forgotten, so when I was explaining the the boys about this day I was able to tell them about all of the hero's of that day. Someday in high school when I am sure it will be in their history books I hope that they remember their mom telling them about that tragic events that happened, but most importantly about the hero's.
